In Lord of the Flies, Jack is Ralph's foil. In the text, Jack doesn't take things as seriously and finds it cool that he can do what he wants and go hunting. On the other hand, Ralph is serious and wants to have rules and signal fires to be able to go home and have some type of order. This shows that Jack and Ralph are foils because their characteristics and personalities will get annoyed with each other and want to do things differently.
