5. Avoiding Sentence Fragments – Review Fragments often occur in paragraphs or longer pieces of writing. Identifying a fragment is the first step toward making it into a complete sentence. Remember, a sentence fragment is an error because it lacks a subject, a complete verb, or a complete thought. As you read the following paragraph, try to identify the fragments.

The Other King of Pop

(1) Andy Warhol, who was an artist and filmmaker, played an integral part in the pop culture movement. (2) The terms pop culture and pop art referring to works of art that draw on popular culture. (3) Warhol's first pop culture exhibit called The American Supermarket. (4) The exhibit was designed to look like a small supermarket environment. (5) Was creating pieces for the exhibit. (6) While the artists made pop art out of items in a supermarket. (7) For instance, Warhol had painted a label of Campbell's soup. (8) People who attended the exhibit were confronted with the ideas behind the pop art movement. (9) A soup label considered art? (10) Also was testing the boundaries between the artistic and the commercial spheres in his studio. (11) His studio, The Factory, making mass-produced art out of consumer items. (12) Because it openly embraced consumer culture. (13) Although Warhol was criticized for combining art and consumer culture. (14) Warhol's pop art successfully blurred the lines between high art and everyday consumer goods.
