(3) Instead of a toilet in a bathroom, she used a wooden outhouse several yards away from the cabin. (4) My sister chose to live in a small cabin—with no running water—in the woods. (5) In Alaskan winters, the days were just as dark as the nights. (6) Although this life seemed unusually difficult, there were several unique benefits. (7) My sister could ski through the woods to her geology classes at University of Alaska. (8) She could also attach her dog to a harness that wrapped around her waist to enjoy the Scandinavian sport of skijoring. (9) Her dog would run along the snowy trails and pull her along on her skis!
