Every child should learn a musical instrument.
Learning an instrument gives children patience and also a time to focus on one thing. Attention spans of children that have played an instrument are probably higher than those that have not due to being able to entertain themselves. Giving them an hour or so to just sit and learn something other than math will help them later. Later in life it’s amazing how your muscles can remember exactly how you used to press the keys or hold down a chord. Feeling creative about something that you have unlimited time to do is great. Development as a child depends on how much you can soak up and listen to and retain. You retain knowledge between 12 and 22 which is why playing an instrument as a child could give a lifetime of remembrance to your muscles and brain. Giving a child an opportunity to find passion is the greatest gift you can give.
