Draft: Can I please go to the football game Saturday? Please? I know I got a
bad grade on my math quiz, but that has nothing to do with football.
It's so unfair! All of my friends are going to the game, and it's supposed
to be a nice, sunny day. Can't you just let up this once? Please? I really
want to watch the game,
How well does this draft address the audience and purpose of the following.
prompt?
Writing prompt:
Yesterday your parents grounded you from attending a school football
game this weekend, not knowing that you had already signed up to
work the snack stand at the game to earn volunteer hours for a class.
Write a letter to your parents to persuade them to let you attend the
game

A. the example is strong because the parents are likely to consider the weather and who is going to the game and in their decision making.
B. the example is strong because it addresses the parents’ objections and provides a good reason for attending the game.
C. the example is weak because it relies on repeative pleading rather than outlining reasons and evidence for going to the game.
D. the example is weak because it reminds the parents about the bad math grade and doesnt state clearly what the writer wants.

This excerpt is from “the poet” by alfred, lord tennyson. the poem describes a poet's consciousness and perception. which three lines suggest the richness of a poet's thoughts? thus truth was multiplied on truth, [the world like one great garden show'd,] and thro' the wreaths of floating dark upcurl'd, rare sunrise flow'd. [and freedom rear'd in that august sunrise] her beautiful bold brow, when rites and forms before his burning eyes melted like snow. [there was no blood upon her maiden robes] sunn'd by those orient skies; but round about the circles of the globes of her keen eyes and in her raiment's hem was traced in flame wisdom, a name to shake [all evil dreams of power--a sacred name.] and when she spake, [her words did gather thunder as they ran,] and as the lightning to the thunder which follows it, riving the spirit of man, making earth wonder, so was their meaning to her words. no sword of wrath her right arm whirl'd, [ but one poor poet's scroll, and with 'his' word] she shook the world.
