Note cards and pre-written speeches are useful in a presentation because

a. they assist the presenter in maintaining focus and being prepared.
b. they assist the presenter in preparing exactly what to say in the presentation.
c. they allow the presenter to connect with the audience when reading word-for-word.

this passage has a lot of figurative language like examples are

the day we found the sharks' teeth was foggy and cool.

moisture hung in the air so thick you could almost see it sparkling in the dim sunlight.

figurative language can not be taken seriously it is just sayings.
