Democracy can be found at schools and even at the workplace. The word literally means "rule by the people". In most schools, student government is run by peer-elected students that are seen as a good fit to represent their class or school. These officials, however, can not do anything too drastic without the approval of peers and school administration. This aspect is a bit different in the workplace, but still sometimes occurs. Even though bosses in most career fields have a lot more power over employees than a class president over its peers, it is a similar way of leadership. The boss is ultimately going to enforce or change rules and workplace procedures to help the company advance and benefit from this growth. Most bosses also put into consideration the well-being of the employees and their careers. So in the end, the employees do have a big say in what goes on in a company.
