What is the figurative language in this paragraph from jfk's inaugural speech?

and so, my fellow americans: ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country.

my fellow citizens of the world: ask not what america will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.

it's like watching a fable, it's not really about the animals but rather it has a meaning that is understood by us and that is implicit, not explicitly said. implicit ideas are common and are used in almost all works of art, from writing to painting to sculpting.

it wants you to read whatever it gave you. then compare it to the others you read. you need to use textual evidence, and cite anything you do!
