In an argumentative essay it is a good choice to use examples to illustrate difficult or abstract ideas. It is often difficult to explain a point of view or even this can take a lot of time and consume a large part of your writing, so you can use examples to explain facts, claims and arguments.

Like references, examples can be very useful in your texts, but do not forget that one or two examples are already sufficient for your essay. Do not use examples in parts of your text that are already quite comprehensive, there is no need to exemplify something that the examiner will easily understand. Try to exemplify only your difficult or abstract ideas.
