How do jack’s frustrations concerning the huts highlight one of the major themes present in the novel thus far?

Jack represents the id, a part of the psyche presented by Sigmund Freud. The id is about the animal side of humanity, and it the only part of you there since birth. When Jack gets frustrated with Ralph concerning the huts, he is insisting that he needs the other boys to help him hunt. This compulsion to hunt comes from his id, as it is animalistic. Ralph represents ego, another part of the psyche which is about reality, and being able to manage in the real world. When Ralph tries to insist that he needs the other boys to help him build sturdy huts, this is the ego side of him coming out. Ralph doesn't understand this, as his ego hasn't developed yet so he has no thoughts of the long-term consequences of his actions.
