slavery in history
by me

“now i’ve been free, i know what a dreadful condition slavery is. i have seen hundreds of escaped slaves, but i never saw one who was willing to go back and be a slave.”
-harriet tubman

slavery is becoming a problem in history. it is even still going on until this day. it is thought to have existed ever since cities had started. slavery is mostly also an excuse for the wealthy to be lazy and not have to do anything. slavery is a domination of one human being used by another human being, which makes no sense because we are all the same. slavery, in my opinion, can be very cruel or not that bad according to where you live and who you are owned by but, most of the slavery is horrible and if it is not stopped, it will continue to spread like an infection. slavery throughout history was horrible because it is often determined on what race you are, had kids work as forced child labor and can be like torture for many people.

slavery in throughout history was horrible because it determines on what race you were born as and your wealth. it is very unfair because a human is still a human no matter what they look like. on this site, the author, tibor machan, claims “ slavery it obliterates an individual's self-governance or sovereignty. it takes over that person's life by others who have not obtained any authority to do this.” in this quote, it proves why slavery is such a horrible thing that has been going on for a long time now. the slavery that is determined by race is horrible because you had no choosing in what family you were born into and so to live life in that way would just be cruel. many people keep getting treated badly according to their looks, race, and wealth even today and we should not be doing that. many people think it is cool or fun but it is still bullying and it should be stopped. one example would be right here in the u. s. long ago when columbus came here, he treated the indians very rudely. eventually, they started dying and when they had all died out that was when he had finally decided to get africans and use them. up until lincoln brought out the emancipation proclamation on january 1st, 1863, slavery was finally stopped but in between that there had been so many problems between the whites and blacks that they had to make the underground railroad just to save the african americans from their slave masters. the worst thing about this was that it was hard to earn your freedom. in other countries such as, in rome, where you can become a gladiator and earn wealth then no longer have to be a slave but, of course, it was still bad because there was the chance of death and so you would have a hard decision to face, maybe death or slavery. few had stayed with slavery but other went and tried out their luck. my last example of slavery is, serfdom in which you are given a plot of land were required to work for the lord of the manor who owned that land, and in return were entitled to protection, justice and the right to exploit certain fields within the manor to maintain their own land. some people that were forced into this type of slavery were the status of many peasants under feudalism, specifically relating to manorialism. it was a condition of bondage, which developed primarily during the high middle ages in europe and lasted in some countries until the mid-19th century. and so as you can see slavery was usually determined by wealth and race.
