In 1914 HG Wells wrote his novel The World Set Free in which he imagined an uranium-based nad granade that could be dropped form ariplanes. This was the prediction of the atomic bomb. This artifact was described as a bomb with infinite power that "would continue to explode indefenitely". He even called it "atomic bomb". It was not until  July 16th, 1945 when the first real atomic bomb was detonated in New Mexico under the Manhattan Project.
