The hell in Dante's Inferno is a vision of justice to those who've sinned according to how they've sinned. For example, gluttonous are forced to eat bad things all the time and similar things changing from one circle to the next one. The general idea is that those people who were famous and rich men during their lives are now seeing justice in hell, so the idea is the good old one that god will be righteous when the time comes. Another setting is how traitors are eaten all the time in the 9th circle.

Inferno is the first part of writer Dante Alighieri's poem Divine Comedy. It tells us about the journey of Dante through Hell, guided by the ancient Roman poet Virgil. In Dante’s Inferno, the hell is a vision of justice to the people who have sinned in their life according to how they have sinned.

The settings in the Inferno reveal Dante's opinions about justice as can be seen below:

Dante has created a world in which the sins that he believes are more widespread in the world are punished accordingly, in specific ways that he believes are fair. The idea seems to be that god will be fair when the time will come.

For example:

•At the entrance, Dante comes across limbo which is a place where people who do not believe in the existence of God are. This shows that Dante believes that people who are not the followers of Christianity, such as pagans, do not deserve a very cruel punishment.

•In a different example, when Dante sees the Fourth Circle of Hell, where people overcome with greed are, he finds that both types of people are there- those who hoarded wealth and also those who wasted it. This means that it was Dante’s belief that both the sins are equally bad and they deserve equal punishment.

Dante (the character) often expresses pity for all the people who are forced to suffer in Hell but that shows just his empathy.

The setting is significant because the organizing of Hell into nine circles tells us about Dante's belief in an orderly world.
