Claudius and Hamlet

Polonius and Gertrude die due to accidents and confusion. Neither one of them was meant to be killed. However, the case of Claudius and Hamlet is different. Hamlet wanted to kill Claudius for much of the play, and he is able to do so at the very last moment, as the army of King Fortinbras surrounds the castle. Hamlet is similarly murdered on purpose, during the duel with Laertes, but right after achieving his revenge.
