What happens to da-duh on the day that british planes fly over her house

"To da-duh, in Memoriam" is a short fiction written by Paule Marshall published in 1967. In the story, we can see many conflicting matters like grandmother vs granddaughter, rural vs urban, modernity vs tradition, etc.

It is an autobiographical story told by an adult who shares the memory of her childhood with her grandmother Da-duh. The grandmother in the story is fearful with the signs of growing urbanity. After the narrator and her family left the place, riots took place in Bridgetown. The British sent planes to fly over the island to scare people that they may leave the town. But Da-duh does not leave, she stayed in her house and watched the plane coming down. Da-duh was found dead sitting on her chair.
