What important literary work attempted to show the evils of slavery?

I think that the book "Uncle Tom's Cabin" or Life of the Lowly by Harriet Beecher Stowe published in 1852 by this confirmed abolitionist was an important literary work that clearly showed the evils of slavery and it was popular and sold 300,000 copies when it first came out. It is said by some, including Abraham Lincoln that this book helped set the stage for the American Civil War against slavery. It is a fact that even just one person who speaks up  against injustice or something which is morally wrong can have a big impact on the world, In the 1980's, the Air Show in British Columbia, Canada invited some Chilean pilots to perform at the show. Personally, I thought this was totally wrong to glorify pilots who were part of General Pinochet's criminal military apparatus responsible for the killing of 1000's of Chileans after the coup against Allende. I wrote a letter to the editor opposing this invitation and another ex-Canadian military man read it and agreed with me and put pressure on the Air Show to stop it and so the Chileans were not invited anymore.
