I will start by stating which answer is right. The answer is A: Hyperbole.

I will now explain why the other choices are wrong.

I will begin with B: Alliteration. An alliteration is when the same exact sound/letter begins in most, if not all words in a sentence. A good yet over used example of this would be "Sally Sells Sea Shells by the Sea Shore." Another would be "Peter Piper Picked a Peck of Pickled Peppers." In both, majority of the words begin with the S or P letter. In the sentence given above, that is not the case so B would have to be wrong.

Next, will be C: Personification. That is when an object is given human like qualities such as dancing or speaking- just to name two. A good example of this would be, "The flowers sang as we passed the garden." (That was an original example.) Flowers cant literally sing so, that would be classified under personification. In the sentence above, (not mine) nothing is given that quality so that is also wrong.

The final choice would be D: Onomatopoeia. (Gosh I don't like typing or spelling that out, it's too long of a word.) I will simply call it poeia for now. Anyways, poeia is just a sound but, stated as a word. A good way to think of this would be comic books. When there is a fight scene such words as, pow, boom, smash, crash, bam, etc. are used to express what's happening. For this, I will be using an original example as well. "There we were driving on the highway. We were speeding to be exact. My brother lost control and we swerved. We were headed towards the car on our right. Then, BOOM! We crashed straight into them, luckily everyone was alive." In the sentence above, (not mine) nothing expresses this great literary technique. That can only mean that D is wrong leaving one choice left.

I will now explain why A: Hyperbole is correct.

A hyperbole is a literary technique used to make an exaggeration. It is not real because this a far stretched way of how things occur or occurred. The sentence that was given follows this. People cannot sleep for a decade in actuality. Therefore, it is an exaggeration making A: Hyperbole the correct answer.
