of this story?
Damon and Pythias
There once lived two men, called
Damon and Pythias. They were both
lovers of truth and integrity and in all
the city of Syracuse they could find
no one who upheld these principles
so well as each other.
Pythias is allowed to
return home to take care
of personal business
before being executed,
creating the resolution of
the story
Dionysius was at that time the ruler
of Syracuse; he wielded complete
authority and very often abused his
power, for he was hot-tempered and
imperious and anyone who angered
him was put to death,
Pythias arrives in time to
save Damon from being
executed, showing his
loyalty to Damon and
creating the climax of the
story.
One day he was informed that a
young man named Pythias had been
heard complaining against the
cruelty of Dionysius; no one was
allowed to criticize the ruler, and
Dionysius condemned the youth to
die
When Pythias criticizes
Dionysius's cruelty,
O Pythias is arrested,
leading to the falling
action of the story.
When Pythias learnt of his fate, he
begged to be allowed to return home
to set his affairs in order.
Pythias pleads with
Dionysius to be released
so he can go home and
tend to his affairs, leading
to the inciting incident of
the story.
"How far away is your home?"
inquired Dionysius suspiciously, "and
how may I be certain you will
return?"
"My home is many miles distant,"

Which two elements does this excerpt from a christmas carol by charles dickens contain? "a small matter," said the ghost, “to make these silly folks so full of gratitude." "small! " echoed scrooge. the spirit signed to him to listen to the two apprentices, who were pouring out their hearts in praise of fezziwig: and when he had done so, said, "why! is it not? he has spent but a few pounds of your mortal money: three or four perhaps. is that so much that he deserves this praise? " "it isn’t that," said scrooge, heated by the remark, and speaking unconsciously like his former, not his latter, self. "it isn't that, spirit. he has the power to render us happy or unhappy; to make our service light or burdensome; a pleasure or a toil. say that his power lies in words and looks; in things so slight and insignificant that it is impossible to add and count ’em up: what then? the happiness he gives, is quite as great as if it cost a fortune." he felt the spirit's glance, and stopped. "what is the matter? " asked the ghost. "nothing particular," said scrooge. "something, i think? " the ghost insisted. "no," said scrooge, "no. i should like to be able to say a word or two to my clerk just now. that's all."
