Most people remember the "smart kid" from school; everything seemed to come easily to that person. In fact, many people think that being a successful student is simply a matter of a person's natural intelligence. Research shows, however, that there are actually multiple ways that students can improve study and time management skills that will benefit their grades and overall academic success. Academic success is actually earned through hard work and good study strategies. In this introductory paragraph, the writer uses a compelling story to which others can relate to hook the reader. The writer's thesis statement is underlined.

Develop an effective hook for the same introduction and thesis statement using a different technique, such as "surprising facts," "humor," a "pop culture reference," or a "thought-provoking definition." Be sure to include the thesis statement from the passage in your paragraph.
