Besides fulfilling his obligations as a full professor of neurosurgery, oncology, plastic surgery, and pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and as director of pediatric neurosurgery, Carson traveled the country as a motivational speaker. In addition, he and his wife founded the Carson Scholars Fund, which awards scholarships to youngsters to use for their college education.
