Forest areas are often destroyed by man for agriculture or due to urbanization - for the construction of houses, roads, dams, etc.

The effects of deforestation are also varied. For instance, it causes an imbalance in the natural world. With the disappearance of the habitat they need to thrive, certain types of animals and plants end up extinct. However, deforestation may even affect human lives directly. Entire communities, often poor, make a living out of the forest. Once it is gone, they lose their livelihoods and are forced to migrate.
