Though the spread of education and self-consciousness have empowered women of India today significantly, we can still see social evils such as dowry, child marriage, female infanticide, honor killing, etc. Ending crimes against women remain a challenge. You are Anu, representing the women forum of Hindu Colony, Dadar East, Mumbai. Write a letter of complaint to the mayor of the city in not more than 120 words regarding crimes against women and to speed up reforms for women’s progress.

Dear Mayor.

Through this letter, I humbly emphasize the importance of the elaboration of policies in favor of the right and protection of women in our society. While it is correct to say that many advances have been made, allowing women's lives to improve significantly, we still have a long way to go so that women in our city, and in our country as a whole, have full freedom and full access to all the rights.

In our city, we can witness cases of sexism and domestic violence in many environments. Our women are constantly victims of abuse, limitations, in addition, we can cases in which women do not have access to equal pay, are used as a bargaining chip, are victims of revenge murder, in addition to being subjected to forced marriages (still being children), infanticide and many other situations that can no longer be tolerated.

For social change to happen in our city, it is important that this change happens in the political context that governs our city. We need stricter laws and more female representation in the elaboration of local policies, so that we can, in fact, endure strong and beneficial social, political and economic change for women.
