A flock of starlings in Flight is called a “murmuration". It's one of nature's most pleasing sights, an undulating mass of thousands of black dots that come together into hypnotic shapes in the sky. But to some in
the united States, a murmuration of starlings is unwelcome. Loud and aggressive, the species are said to bully
the native woodpeckers and bluebirds. Starlings also have a problematic tendency to murmurate near airfields.
The big problem with starlings is that they don't belong hear. They are what's called an introduced, alien, or
exotic species. If a species is aggressive enough we call it an invasive species.
Since invasive species are in a knew environment, free from natural predators, parasites, or competitors,
they often develop large population sizes very rapidly. these large populations can out-compete, displace or kill
native species. Non-native species can reduce wildlife food and habitat. Some also have the potential to disrupt
vital ecosystem functions, such as water flow, nutrient cycling or soil decomposition. Other invasive species
cause massive amounts of economic damage to the agricultural business by destroying crops and contaminating
produce. They can even cause direct harm to human's or domestic animals.
