Let's think about Darry and Ponyboy. The last interaction between Pony and Darry was an argument ending with Darry slapping Ponyboy, causing Pony to run from the house that night. In chapter 5, Pony will have a dream about being with Darry and Soda. Start thinking from Darry's perspective: the last thing you did to your little brother was shout at him and slap him in the face, and now he is forced to run away. You don't know if you'll see him again. How are you (Darry) feeling about all this?

Excerpt from jane eyre charlotte bronte 2 i was glad of it: i never liked long walks, especially on chilly afternoons: dreadful to me was the coming home in the raw twilight, with nipped fingers and toes, and a heart saddened by the chidings of bessie, the nurse, and humbled by the consciousness of my physical inferiority to eliza, john, and georgiana reed.
