MODAL COULD : could es el pasado del verbo can, y es un verbo modal que se utiliza para expresar habilidad en pasado y para peticiones de cortesía. Su norma gramatical es : pronombre+ could/couldn’t +verbo + complemento El significado de could depende mucho del contexto, pero suele traducirse con los verbos poder/pudo- podría/ y saber en español. Como ya debes imaginar, couldn’t es la forma contraída de could not, la forma negativa del verbo.
