The people in the countryside and even in cities use herbal cures for common
ailments. The rising cost of medicines has turned the attention of medical scientist to herbal
cures. Herbalists or “herbalarious” have proven that plants are effective in treating certain
diseases.
"So far, we have analyzed 300 plants," says Mrs. Ludivina S. de Padua, director of
U. P. Los Baños Medical Plant Program, "and we have discovered that what hebalists are
doing has scientific basis."
From the studies, Mrs. De Padua, together with G. C. Lugod and J. V. Pancho have
