The play takes place in the ancient Greek city of Pessinus, the capital of Phrygia. King Midas was a kind man, but he did not have very good judgement. One day, Midas was generous to Silenus, a satyr, and so Dionysus granted him one wish. Dionysus, like all Greek gods, liked to teach mortals lessons.

King Midas: Who are you, stranger?

I think Struggle between competing elements within the character describes the situation I discussed.

King Midas is the Protagonist of the story. The Stranger is the one who makes his wishes come true. King Midas' servants are the ones who gave him all of his things and turned them into gold.

“That may be,” said the King, “but if I could have one wish, I would ask that everything I touch should turn to shimmering gold.” “Your wish shall be granted,” said the fairy. “From sunrise tomorrow, your slightest touch will turn anything into gold but your gift will not make you happy.”

The conflict in this story is that King Midas thinks a Golden Touch will make him more satisfied with his life; instead, the Golden Touch causes him problems by turning the things he loves most into lifeless gold.

Rising action in a plot is a series of relevant incidents that create suspense, interest, and tension in a narrative. In literary works, a rising action includes all decisions, characters' flaws, and background circumstances that together create turns and twists leading to a climax.
