Creative Nonfiction Project
Task students with drafting their own non-fiction text of approximately 1000 words. This is a term-long project that will run in conjunction with other activities.
Step 1 in this project will involve careful planning. Students will need to submit evidence of the planning process before drafting their actual story. Direct students to read the attached article (Nonfiction Writing Tips: How to Tell a True Story in a Creative Way) and incorporate evidence from this article into plan outline.
Students should also incorporate evidence of authorial intent in their planning.
Step 2 will involve drafting their non-fiction story.
Step 3 will involve submitting their draft for feedback.
Step 4 will involve applying teacher feedback.
If students finish their non-fiction story, they can repeat the planning process to transpose their non-fiction story into a multimodal text.
