Quando queremos nos referir a pessoas que estamos conversando (you) nós usamos "are", por exemplo, "you are so cool". Quando vamos nos referir a ele ou ela, nós usamos "is", por exemplo, "she is so kind" ou "he is so funny".Quando você vai se referir a um grupo de pessoas ou a você e mais uma pessoa, você usa "are", por exemplo, "we are the best" ( usado com duas ou mais pessoas, e você tem que estar incluída nessa dupla ou grupo ). E quando você vai se referir a duas pessoas (eles ou elas) você usa are.

basicamente nós usamos is para ele, ela e para objetos. E usamos are para mais de uma pessoa, grupos, ou para se referir a pessoa com quem conversa.
