Jackie is writing about how Esperanza changes in Esperanza Rising. He reads this passage. Esperanza was amazed. She had never washed anything in her life and Isabel, who was only eight years old, made it look so easy. Puzzled, Isabel looked at Esperanza. "Don't you know how to wash clothes?"
