Read the passage. Paddleboarding is a newly popular activity, but the idea is not so new. For thousands of years, people have stood on vessels in water and paddled. Ancient fisherman paddled themselves while standing, to view the water. And for centuries people have used water "taxis” in river cities such as Venice, Italy.
