Monday mornings are always the worst. People from all professions are found on the already busy street. There's a policeman who hangs around the alley popular for notororious dealings every other weekend, but everyone just acts like he's not there. Better not to make eye contact. The only solace the typical Monday morning brings to every weary soul is the bakery around the corner. The chef is rumoured to be imported. I couldn't doubt it, because I never dared to ask. No one makes blueberry muffins like Old Dolio. He keeps the freshly baked goods on the shelf for every person to see through the glass from out the streets. Nothing attracts the customers like seeing what they want and knowing they can get it at such a cheap price. Except those that don't plan to pay for it. Yeah, there's the occasional thief in and out of the bakery, but Old Dolio keeps the best cakes out of sight. I think he learned fast from the first day he displayed his best goods on the table, and while he was bragging about his famous recipe, someone snatched his cherry pie and made for the door. He keeps telling me he wants to open a restaurant. It does have more security than a bakery. He would not even have to worry about the little things. He'd have a manager for that. Oh! Poor Dolio. Never even had a woman in his life. None that lasted anyway. He's always said he'd prefer just a friend anyway.
