Pablo Picasso was one of the most famous artists of the 20TH century. He was born in Malaga, Spain. His father Jose Ruiz, was a painter and a professor of art. By the time he was 13, he was a better painter than his father.
In 1895, Picasso was in Barcelona. This was very good for young Pablo. Barcelona was a big city even then. There were a lot of good art schools there. At school, Picasso was a great student. His teachers were very happy with him. His favourite painters were Velasquez and El Greco. Guernica (1937) is one of his greatest works.
