Violet Sorzano’s "The Nest" theme is "When your parents tell you something, they say it for a reason." The theme develops in the story as the protagonist Randal decided to hike the woods by himself but then he got lost. Randall had tried to fight himself from the loneliness and fear that he was feeling. He was about to surrender when he saw an eagle pass by, he was having an internal battle whether he should follow the eagle or not.  He followed his instinct and eventually he was able to get  back to his family. Violet Sorzano Wanted the reader to understand the theme "When your parents tell you something, they say it for a reason." and give the protagonist a lesson to learn from.
