However, it is a wonder she could even walk. A series of childhood ill-nesses had so crippled her that she was unable to walk until she was eight years old. It was through sheer determination and commitment that she overcame the odds. Research a figure from history who also had the confidence to overcome the odds. Show how something great was accomplished by this person. Also, inter-view someone in your family or community who has exhibited the confidence to do some-thing admirable in the face of adversity.
