Directions: Read the passage, and answer the question that follows. Oscar Comes to Hollywood. Years ago, large powerful studios controlled the lives of actors. The studio bosses said which movies actors would be in, how much money they could earn, and how they should live. Some actors rebelled against the studio's rules. They bought fast sports cars and drove them recklessly. They went to wild, all-night parties and generally lived "life in the fast lane." These actions didn't make them popular with the public. Then, in 1927, some movie actors formed the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, an alliance of actors, directors, and other movie people. This partnership met to exchange ideas about how to make movies and how to promote their industry. The Academy eventually came up with a clever idea for making sure that members of the industry were recognized. The Awards Committee planned a small, simple ceremony, now known as the Academy Awards. A studio art director named Cedric Gibbons designed a 14-inch tall, shiny, golden statuette that would be given to the winners. The statuette was soon given the nickname Oscar after an Academy employee remarked that it looked like her uncle Oscar! Today, actors in fancy dresses and glittering jewels walk the red carpet on their way to the ceremony. Underneath all the glamour, each actor's pulse is galloping wildly. There is a lot at stake. Winning an Oscar can be both satisfying and profitable.

Which descriptive phrase in the passage helped you visualize what the Oscar award looks like?
