A student has a difficult article to read, so, while she is reading, she asks herself questions about what's happening in the text, compares and contrasts what she's reading with other things she has read, and she annotates the text by highlighting key points. What kind of reading is this student doing? what can you do to help yourself stay engaged with reading, even if you are not interested in the topic? 1.) Discover a place and a reading position that help you to concentrate, and do your difficult reading there.

2.)Always read on paper; computers and other internet-capable devices are too distracting to allow you to stay engaged.

3.)Read the difficult parts of the article first so that you're familiar with them before reading the entire article.

4.)Read the article by yourself; do not talk with others about the text because they can give you incorrect ideas.
