Hey hey, mind reading my essay from... 5th grade? Rate it, perhaps? Did you know Natives and Europeans used to trade with each other? Even though they traded with each other, the relationship between European settlers and the Native Americans was one of conflict because they took advantage of each other, and another is because the Europeans tried to take the Native's land.
One reason why the relationship between the Europeans and Natives was one of conflict because they took advantage of each other. Evidence (from the first passage, "French relationships with Native Americans") is, "...mutually respectful relationships with their Native American neighbors. They took advantage of these relationships during conflicts with their European foes." Why I think this makes sense is because the Europeans are taking advantage of the Americans, so this would have caused conflict. Another piece of evidence is "The Spanish were interested in conquering the native people and converting them to Catholicism" Why I think this makes sense is because they were forcing the Natives to become catholic, which you shouldn't force someone to do.
Another reason is that the Europeans tried to take the Native's land. Evidence is "Finally, diplomacy can only go so far when there is a determined effort to achieve one goal—to gain more land—Native American land." Why I think this makes sense is because the Europeans are taking the Native's land and that would result in conflict. Another piece of evidence is "Instead, they tried to purchase land from the Native Americans. The land-hungry English settlers would ignore agreements, leading to conflict" This shows that the English settlers are taking the Natives land without permission
In conclusion, the relationship between European settlers and the Native Americans was one of conflict because they took advantage of each other, and attempted to steal the Native's land.
