a book about a girl that lives on a farm with her brother mother and father right across from her is another farm with a little boy that shes best friends with. one day the civil war started and her father was sent off to war along with the neighbours father who were on oposite sides of eachother. both fathers die and the mother gets shot by people from the oposite side of the war. the girl and her brother dicide that it would be best for them to move to where it is safe so they start their journey. while on there way past their neighbors house the boy starts throwing rocks along with his mother at the girl and her brother. they were both sad that the boy decided that he didnt like him and ran to saftey and continued on there way in their carrage. they stopped along side the road with there horse to get water and food when a bunch of army men found them and stole their horse and suplies leaving their carage behind. they end up meeting back up with the boy that threw rocks at them and they becme friends again helping eachother out. it turns out his mother died too. eventually they made it to saftey . what is this book
