Sam the Goldfish "One of the most important things about having a goldfish is making sure they have clean water," John's mom explained, as they observed Sam, John's new goldfish, swimming around the bowl. "That means we have to change some of his water every week."
John looked up at his mom, a confused look on his face. "Why would we change only some of his water?" he asked.
"If you change all the water at once, it may shock the fish, but changing some of the water allows the fish to get used to the new water," his mom explained.
"I understand, now," John replied. "Will you help me change his water, so I make sure I do it correctly?"
"Of course, I will," his mother said. "But first, we need to find a good spot for Sam's bowl."
"I was thinking right next to my bed," John said, and smiled as he watched Sam swim around his bowl.

Read the excerpt from "the most dangerous game." again rainsford lifted the heavy knocker, and let it fall. the door opened then, opened as suddenly as if it were on a spring, and rainsford stood blinking in the river of glaring gold light that poured out. the first thing rainsford's eyes discerned was the largest man rainsford had ever seen—a gigantic creature, solidly made and black bearded to the waist. in his hand the man held a long-barreled revolver, and he was pointing it straight at rainsford's heart. the details of this excerpt show that rainsford sees ivan as a(n) individual.
