Sentence D has the most effective use of description to show the reader what kind of person Harrison's Uncle is. It shows he is charitable as he provides free dental care to those who can't afford it, and also reveals that he is a good businessman because his pediatric dental practice is thriving. These are both qualities that could inspire Harrison to want to become a dentist, and also cause admiration for his uncle.
       
Sentence A only discusses the distance between Uncle Ted's house and office. It does not give any insight as to Uncle Ted's personality traits, or how he feels about commuting to work. Also, Harrison's claim that his uncle's office is "far" from his uncle's house, and that he therefore spends "a lot of time" commuting could be seen as subjective from Harrison's point of view. We do not know how Uncle Ted feels about his commutes. For example, it is possible he enjoys the location of his home and office and/or finds the work so worthwhile he doesn't mind the commute. It is also possible he does not like the distance, and often complains or hopes to alter either his living or work situation.
       
Sentence B reveals that Uncle Ted is the oldest of Harrison's father's siblings. However, we are not informed of whether or not he was a nice or supportive older sibling growing up, and while he may be the closest family member currently living to Harrison's family, we still no nothing about his personality or interests.
       
Sentence C is stronger than sentence A and B, however, we still get little insight to what kind of person Uncle Ted is. The fact that Harrison wanted to spend a lot of time with Uncle Ted, and that Uncle Ted allowed him to visit his dental office implies they have a good relationship. However, when Harrison states that spending time at Uncle Ted's dental office caused him to think about becoming a dentist himself, it is not clear whether this influence came from Uncle Ted, other dentists that may work there, certain patients that arrived, or the job itself.
