The hunters become the hunted. In the beginning of the story, Rainsford and Whitney were traveling on a boat to an island and they had a short discussion about hunting. Rainsford is pretty much known for hunting and during his conversation with Whitney he had zero empathy for the animals. When he reaches the island, he meets General Zaroff.
