sentence structure

Sentence structure is the way a sentence is structured. Does the sentence begin with a prepositional phrase? Is it a simple sentence that contains just a subject and verb? Is it a compound complex sentence that uses conjunctions to tie everything together? These are sentence structures. When we talk about organizational strategies we usually are talking about how an entire essay or story is organized rather than a single sentence.

Chronological order is when the writing is organized by time. So whatever happens first is first, then the second event comes next, and so on.

Order of importance is organized with either the most important item first or the least important item first. Then it goes in order. Sometimes a speaker wants to end with their most passionate argument whereas an essay writer might start with the most important item to get people interested.

Comparison and Contrast organizational structure is used when you want to discuss the similarities and differences between or among things.
