What is the main idea of this passage? eating healthy requires maintaining a balanced diet. although “fad diets” are constantly being circulated, they are actually more harmful to your body than maintaining a balanced diet. “fad diets” will often try to promote a certain food that will rid the body of fat. for example, grapefruit and lemons are frequently added to diets because they supposedly combat fats with their acidity. despite whether this claim is true, the more important question is, are you really going to eat grapefruit at every meal for the rest of your life? probably not. you are more likely to stay healthy by eating a variety of fruits and vegetables. you will enjoy the various flavors, and you will get the many different nutrients your body needs. finding a healthy balance that works for you is much healthier than jumping from one extreme diet to the next. a. lemons get rid of fat in the body b. you might like to eat grapefruit with every meal c. it is healthier to eat a balanced diet than to try “fad diets.” d. exercise is the key to weight loss success.
