What do scout, jem, and dill know about boo radley? what parts of their understanding of boo are based on facts and reliable information? what parts are based on gossip and legend? how can the reader tell the difference between the facts about the radley family and the legends?

At the beginning of the story, the three kids have heard all kind of frightening stories about Boo and come to believe in them, perhaps to escape the monotony of their own lives. The fact that Boo never left his house is another reason for the children to be afraid of him.

As the story continues, the reader sees some good actions from Boo: leaving presents for the children in the tree, covering Scout with a blanket after the fire, fixing Atticus's trousers. It is because of these actions that the reader can begin to understand the nature of Boo.

the content of dr. king’s speech, his inspiring presence, and the moment in history all came together to make the iconic “i have a dream” speech the defining moment of the american civil rights movement. but there are several other reasons why this speech, delivered over 50 years ago, remains an example of one of the best speeches in american history.

since part of my job is to people become better presenters, i’ve noticed several techniques that we can all learn from and be inspired by in this magnificent speech.

in most cases, you can’t handpick the spot to give a presentation, as mlk did for supreme symbolic effect when he stood on the steps of the lincoln memorial and echoed the opening words of the gettysburg address (“five score years ago . . ). but you absolutely can amplify your message by adapting it to your setting and location.
