As you may know, an independent clause is basically a clause that is a complete sentence (or the portion of a clause that can stand on its own.  Of all the possible responses, and with that mind, the only option that contains a complete thought is “B. We are going to pick the peppers.”  The first option, “A,” could be a bit misleading because it kind of looks like a complete sentence, but it leaves things hanging.  “We are going to…”  Well, we are going to what?  In the future, when trying to determine which clause within a sentence is an independent clause, be on the lookout for which clause is a complete thought and can stand on its own making the most sense.

(4) "oh, i've got better plans than that," laughed kerry. "i've got four firecrackers and two model rockets. care to join me in the backyard? "

this is the correct answer because of one simple word. "backyard"
