One thing to keep in mind as you write is that your readers may not have experienced what you are writing about in the same capacity (if at all) as you have.  As such, it is important to keep in mind that in order to provide the best possible image for readers, you should try to include descriptions that include as many sensory perceptions as possible.  What that means is that you should include details that include descriptions of sight, smell, sound, taste, and touch.
