president andrew jackson made this speech that reflected the feelings of the people at that time in history. in that context there was no correct understanding of the culture of the indians, who were seen as an imporductive and ignorant people, which would be hindering the development of the country. that is, the indians should be on the margins of society. it would be better for white settlers to live without american indians nearby.
