"anne is a 16 year old, english speaking, girl who lives in new york. she has a brother, sister, mom and dad but is upset because she thinks her family has problems. her parents yell at her and her brother and sister won’t her when anne looses something. she is also upset because her friends shop at places like calvin klein and she shops at walmart. one day her french teacher gives her the opportunity to go live in belgium for 3 months with a family. she talks it over with her dad and he agrees to let her go. over the time anne is in belgium, she learns to look at her life in a different light and realizes she has a very normal family."

Anne a seize ans, elle parle anglais et vit à New York. Elle a un frère ,une soeur,une mère et un père mais elle est contrariée parce que sa famille a des problèmes.
Ses parents lui crient dessus et quand elle perd quelque chose son frère et sa soeur ne l'aide pas.
Elle est également en colère parce que ses amis font des achats dans des magasins comme Calvin Klein et elle chez Walmart.
Un jour, son professeur de français lui donne l'occasion de partir vivre en Belgique pour trois mois avec une famille.
Elle en parle avec son père (she speaks more with his father) et il accepte de la laisser partir.
