Revolution represents the movement of the Earth around the Sun. This is important because this movement is very important for the wind circulations on our planet, change of seasons, long term temperature.
Rotation represent the movement of the Earth around its own axis. This is important because in this way we have day and night, short term warming and cooling which is essential for having suitable temperature for life.
